Regulating Food Truck Operations in Poultney
At the behest of the Selectboard, the Poultney Planning Commission is drafting an ordinance related to Food Trucks. Ultimately the language of this ordinance will be decided by members of the Selectboard, but it is our duty as Planning Commission to provide them with as much information as we can pull together, in order to guide their decision.
What is a “food truck”?
For the purpose of this exercise, let’s look to how other towns have defined this use:
"Vendor" shall mean any person, including an employee or agent of another, who sells or offers to sell any food, beverage, goods, or merchandise on any street, sidewalk or public park from a stand, motor vehicle, cart, push cart, or from his/her person or one who travels from door to door offering to sell the items listed above.
Before we put pen to paper, we would like to understand how the community feels!
Join us on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 6pm at the Fire House for a gathering to share your excitement, concerns, and anything else that Planning Commissioners should consider as they research this topic.
We know that people — especially those in the food industry — can be quite busy! Those who cannot attend, or are unsure if they will be able to attend, are welcome to submit their thoughts and concerns ahead of time using the below form:
